Jurgen Klopp has asked to leave Borussia Dortmund with immediate effect, according to reports in Germany.
The latest development has seen Klopp heavily backed on Sky Bet to replace Manuel Pellegrini as the new Manchester City manager.
The 47-year-old is contracted with the Bundesliga club until 2018, but it’s understood Klopp believes he has taken the side as far as he can and wants a new challenge.
Dortmund, who are 10th in the Bundesliga, have called a press conference for 1230 UK time.
Klopp, who has won two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and guided the side to the Champions League final in 2013, has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
City, who are now 12 points behind leaders Chelsea in the title race, have been linked with the German in recent months.
