Klopp appreciates Liverpool fans.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has appreciated the support his team got from their fans in their Europa League game against Rubin Kazan, and he is hoping for a similar support in today's game against Southampton at Anfield.

“I am writing these notes soon after our Europa League game against FC Rubin Kazan and the emotions of the evening are still high in my thoughts," he wrote in This is Anfield, liverpoolfc.com reports.

“First of all I would like to thank everyone for the incredibly generous welcome – it was something very special and something I will never forget.

“More importantly though was the backing you gave the team from the first minute to the final whistle. You stayed with them throughout and it gives me great encouragement for what we have to come in our future: staying together is absolutely vital for what we are looking to achieve.

“If you can produce the same level of performance for us [against Southampton] as you did on Thursday evening at Anfield, then we can ask no more from you. It is then our task to match your commitment with our delivery on the pitch.”

Liverpool play Southampton today at 16:15 GMT.
