Klopp gives injury update on Liverpool's Alisson.

Brazil international Alisson Becker will not face Manchester City in the Charity Shield at King Power Stadium this weekend.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will not feature in the FA Community Shield clash on Saturday.

The Brazilian is set to miss the crunch clash against Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday after sustaining an injury in the pre-season friendly against Manchester United in Bangkok earlier in July.

As things stand, Alisson has returned to training but Klopp expects him to be ready for Liverpool’s Premier League opener at Fulham on August 6.

Diogo Jota, meanwhile, also remains out of action due to a muscle problem.

“No, Alisson and Diogo have no [chance]. Ali trained today more than the day before so he will be definitely available for Fulham, but not for the weekend,” the German coach said on Thursday.

“And the same for Diogo. Diogo was not here with us so how could he play a football game? That will take a while unfortunately. That’s it.”
