Pep Guardiola is convinced that ex-defender Vincent Kompany will become Manchester City manager someday because it is ‘written in the stars’.
Kompany plied his trade at the Etihad from 2011 up until 2019, winning four Premier League titles and eventually became a Man City legend.
Since retiring from football, Kompany became the Head Coach at Belgian club Anderlecht and he is now at the helm at Championship side Burnley, who are set for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Kompany is also set to make a return to City with his Clarets later this month for an intriguing match in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Guardiola expressed his delight at how Kompany, 36, has thrived so far in the dugout and reckons he will be a top coach.
“Personally, I am delighted for his success in Burnley,” said Guardiola in Friday’s press conference as mancity.com quoted.
“He will be back sooner or later. His destiny to be manager of City is already written in the stars. It’s going to happen. I don’t know when but it’s going to happen.
“It will be quarter-finals of the FA Cup, an incredible chance to reach the semi-finals at Wembley. We will try to compete against Vinnie and his team.”
The Catalan added: “He has a lot of attributes.
“Work ethic, knowledge of the game, experience. Doing what he has done is so difficult and he is doing really well. He knows the club, knows the environment, our fans, what our people need. The destiny is there.”
