Two late goals at the San Paulo ensured the Reds started their Champions League defence with a defeat.
Jordan Henderson says the Reds take responsibility for their Champions League loss to Napoli on Tuesday night.
It was a poor night for the Reds in Naples as rare mistakes cost them three points in their Champions League group-stage opener against the Serie A club at San Paulo.
Dries Mertens' penalty in the 82nd minute and Fernando Llorente's dying minute strike sealed the victory for Carlo Ancelotti's side as the European champions fell to a 2-0 defeat in Italy.
The Merseyside club had little to smile about last night and following the match Henderson told BT Sport: "Listen, in the first-half I felt we played some good stuff, we were just missing that final bit. Napoli are a good side and you have to defend as a team which I felt we did.
"The mistakes for the goal, we need to improve on. Overall we can be better, we take responsibility and try and react the right way."
This is the the first time Liverpool have lost a Champions League group-stage opener since their 0-2 defeat to Valencia back in September 2002.
