For Slot, It is Salah In!
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed concerns about Mohamed Salah’s contract situation and the growing speculation surrounding his future, insisting that the forward remains fully focused on his football.
Salah, whose contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of this season, recently expressed his disappointment at not being offered a new deal. In an interview, he said as BBC Sport reported: “I'm probably more out than in,” referring to his uncertain future at the club. However, Slot, who took over as Liverpool head coach in June, has no doubts about Salah’s commitment.
“If I look at my line-ups, Mo is more in than out,” Slot remarked confidently. “I don’t think he’s distracted at all. I haven’t seen any change in his behaviour after the United game or after any public comments. He just keeps on scoring.”
Despite Salah's candid comments about his contract situation, Slot believes the Egyptian forward has remained professional. "If you would have been at the Axa training ground today, I don't think any player spoke about it, at least not when I was there,” Slot continued. “The players are all focused on the next match, and that includes Mo.”
Salah has certainly let his performances do the talking. With 12 goals this season, he has been instrumental in Liverpool's strong start, and his brace in the recent 3-0 win at Southampton helped move the Reds eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League are crucial. All in all, Slot believes that Salah and his teammates are entirely focused on these challenges.
