Louis van Gaal admits emotions got the better of him on touchline.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said his emotions got the better of him on the touch-line in the second half of their 3-2 win over Arsenal.

The Dutchman went to remonstrate with fourth official Mike Dean because he felt Alexis Sanchez had made too much of a tackle by one of the United players. And while making his point, the former Ajax and Barcelona boss threw himself to the floor.

“I’m always sitting on my bench but my emotion today was a bit too high,” he told Sky Sports.

“I apologised to the referee. I have to control my emotions.”

When Van Gaal was told in his press conference that the fans enjoyed the incident, he replied: “The fans are not always wise!”
