LOUIS SAHA has hailed Louis van Gaal for injecting spirit back into Manchester United.
Van Gaal spent £150m - and brought in loan striker Radamel Falcao - as he bid to resurrect the fallen giants in the summer.
Falcao has flopped but the Dutchman has helped United back into the Champions League with a fourth-placed finish.
And Saha, who spent spent four years at Old Trafford, reckons Van Gaal deserves high praise.
He told Starsport: “The objective was to get back into the Champions League.
“At the start of the season, it wasn’t a formality that this would happen but it has and Louis van Gaal and the players deserve credit for that.
“I would say that the spirit is back now and you can see improvement.
“The young players are confident again and I think next season will be a good one for United.
“True enough Van Gaal had money to spend but the Premier League is tough because there are six or seven teams that can beat you on any given day.
“It is a physical league and it’s getting more and more intense.
“It’s hard to predict just who will beat who but United look like they will be active in the transfer market again this summer and I can see them enjoying an even better season to come.”
