Louis van Gaal says he made a stupid mistake by stating a time frame to integrate his philosophy at Manchester United.
The Red Devils boss said earlier in the season that it would take him three months to put his prints on his team when he first took over at Old Trafford in the summer.
However, Van Gaal now feels he shouldn't have mentioned three months after a mixed start to his reign in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.
“It was my stupid fault I think, that I mentioned a period, exactly there months,” Van Gaal told MUTV. “So now I have to answer a lot of questions about the three months.
“I believe in my philosophy and Manchester United has belief in that philosophy. Because of that I'm here.
“It maybe needs more time. Maybe the match against West Brom is the start of a new period.”
The Reds play West Brom at the Hawthorns on Monday night hoping to close the gaps on Chelsea and their noisy neighbours Manchester City.
