Vasquez hails Benzema as he hopes Real Madrid win Laliga.
Karim Benzema is the best centre-forward in the world, says Real Madrid teammate Lucas Vazquez.
The Frenchman, who says he is a No.9 playing as a No. 10, scored a brace in Los Blancos’ 4-2 win over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday night, taking his career goals tally to 300.
"Benzema is showing that he's the best No. 9 in the world," Vazquez explained after the match as quoted by Marca.
"He's scoring goals, working hard, assisting, linking play up... it is wonderful to play with him.
"It was a great match for the whole team, though, although the red card did cause us to suffer a bit at the end.
"We scored four goals, but the most important thing is that we feel good.
"Things are going well and our intensity is fundamental.
"When we are that intense, we are a different team and are showing that now."
Barcelona lead their arch rivals by 10 points but Vazquez is still hoping Real Madrid can win the LaLiga title this season.
"We're going to try to fight until the end and see what happens," he added. "We plan to win every game and will wait for a slip from the leader."
