Luke Shaw pleased with how Man United strengthened their grip on a top-four spot.

Man United strengthened their grip on a top-four spot with a deserved 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Manchester United strengthened their grip on the top four as they beat Bournemouth to make it six wins in a row in all competitions, thanks to goals from Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford.

The Red Devils are beginning to look like a team heading in the right direction under manager Erik ten Hag as the comfortable three-goal victory over Bournemouth moved them level on points with third-placed Newcastle, with a game in hand.

Brazil midfield marshall Casemiro continued his fine form as he gave United an early lead after finishing off a free-kick from Denmark star Christian Eriksen.

Then the inform left-back Shaw – scored his first goal at Old Trafford since 2018 – with a close-range right-footed effort following a superb move that started off with the Englishman.

And afterward, Rashford scored the third goal, tapping in a cross from Bruno Fernandes, meaning the England international has now hit the net in four successive matches.

Following the victory on Tuesday night at the Theatre of Dreams, Luke Shaw admitted that the belief and confidence is back in the Man Utd team.

'Belief and confidence is back'

“It was a really good result," United defender Shaw. "At times we got a bit sloppy and conceded chances but David [De Gea] was amazing and made a number of really good saves to keep that clean sheet and an important three points which we needed.

“I’ll play wherever the team needs me or the manager wants me. Back to left-back tonight and delighted to get on the score sheet. I don’t get many.

“The strides we are taking are going in the right direction that we want. There is still a lot to improve on but things are looking really good and positive and we feel like the belief and confidence is back, and you can feel it around the place, not just with the players and the staff but you can feel it in the stadium and around the fans.

"Hopefully they are enjoying it at the moment but I feel there is a lot more to come and hopefully we can keep putting smiles on people’s faces."
