Bruno Fernandes' double and a calm finish from Edison Cavani eased the pressure on Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says they knew securing three points at Goodison Park on Saturday was a must.

The Red Devils came from a goal down to seal a 3-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park, making them the third team to win three consecutive English top-flight away games after conceding the first goal.

Toffees star Bernard broke the deadlock in the 19th minute with a close-range strike, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s boys responded within six minutes through midfielder Bruno Fernandes - who finished off Luke Shaw’s cross with a superb header.

The January signing was eager for his side to turn their recent woes around as he scored his second of the game in the 32nd minute.

It was a real battle at Goodison Park with tackles flying in from both teams, however, substitute Edison Cavani wrapped up the win in the dying minute as he calmly finished up Fernandes’ pass following a counter-attack.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Maguire who put in a brilliant display against Carlo Ancelotti’s team, said: "We knew we had to get three points today. It's early in the season and we don't look at the table but the points we have accumulated isn't good enough for this club.

"It's important to bounce back from setbacks. We did it at Newcastle. We started the game really well but conceded a disappointing goal from a long, direct ball and we should have had a better cover. We've been questioned but we know we don't answer them in 90 minutes, we answer them day in, day out. The lads are working tirelessly for this club, everyone wants to improve and do better. The manager has to pull the lads off the training ground.

"I think we know the first goal in Istanbul can't happen. We went away to Turkey and knew it would be a tough game. It made it a frustrating night for us and the individuals knew in the changing room straight after and held their hands up and apologised. We are a good group who work really hard and we're all in this together."
