Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will have talks with England defender John Stones over his future at the Etihad.

The ex-Bayern boss Guardiola says he is “more than delighted” with Stones’ services, but insists he will have to be honest with the former Everton centre-half because he wants the best for him.

Stones, who moved to the Etihad Stadium from Goodison Park in summer of 2016, has endured another frustrating campaign that has been blighted by form and fitness issues.

"I've said many times, and continue saying, I'm more than delighted with John Stones as a person, as a professional, everything," Guardiola said at his press conference on Tuesday.

"What I want is the best for him and at the end of the season we are going to speak about what is going to happen, because sometimes my wish is not the wish of the players, or the wish for the situation of the club.

"I am honest with them and the moment I will feel - not with John but any player - if we have to change we are going to tell them."
