City were second in the Premier League – 25 points behind leaders Liverpool before the coronavirus brought the season to a standstill.

Man City Stones wants the Premier League season to resume 'at the right time'

England centre-back John Stones has revealed his desire for the 2019-20 season to resume. The Manchester City defender believes it'll be better if the campaign re-starts when it is "safe for everyone". Reports suggest that the Premier League could recommence in June behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Stones insists he'll prefer playing in a stadium full of fans. "We all want football back, me more than anyone, but I want it to be at the right time and I want it to be safe for everyone," he told CityTV.

More: Ex-Bayern boss doesn't think Leroy Sane is 'an absolute top player'. "For me as a player, you want to be playing in stadiums full of fans and the fans want to come to the game. If they can't get to it, they'll watch it on TV, but that's the love and passion everyone knows and loves."

Stones, 25, added: "For us as players, we want to be back out there fighting for titles and winning trophies for everyone to try and watch, be there at the games". "As soon as that's safe to happen in my opinion we need to be ready."
