Man City striker Gabriel Jesus reveals motivation for Sunday’s double against Fulham.

Updated: Nov 19, 2023

Gabriel Jesus says the missed penalty against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane inspired him to score a brace in Manchester City’s FA Cup win over championship side Fulham.

After missing a spot-kick against the Blades in the Premier League last week Tuesday, the Brazilian responded with two headed goals in the space of three second-half minutes as the Citizens registered their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Jesus said: “I’m happy with the goals. I always have to score when I go to the pitch.

“When I miss a chance I’m very hungry to score. Here I scored and helped my team-mates.

“It’s the FA Cup, it’s a very good competition. We qualified for the next round, so I’m happy.”

Pep Guardiola’s men turn their attention to the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against arch rivals Manchester United on Wednesday night, a tie in which City hold a 3-1 aggregate lead from the first leg.

However, the 22-year-old striker added: “It’s going to be hard, a very good derby here. It doesn’t matter, the first game.

“We never know what can happen so we have to focus. It is going to be a tough game, difficult for us, difficult for them, so we have to play amazing again to qualify for the final.”
