Man Utd would be better off under David Moyes says Chelsea legend but expects the reds to be better.
Pat Nevin believes The Red Devils will be in a better shape under Louis van Gaal come January.
Manchester United are now 10th in the Premier League table after the 1-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
And Chelsea legend Nevin said Manchester United would have acquired more points if David Moyes was still the manager but expects Louis van Gaal's team to start improving with time.
“I would suspect they were building under David Moyes but they weren’t building very quickly,” Nevin told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.
“He has got rid of a lot of the deadwood. That makes it easier filling the holes that are left there.
“That is in his favour and it looks a little bit fresher because of that.
“Fans will see their forward line, their midfield, and think there is a plan coming together here.
“I suspect at this stage of the season, if Moyes had still been in charge, he would have been further ahead than the current manager is because he would have put his plans into place.
“I still think by January, Manchester United will turn a corner and if they can hang on to the coattails of the European spots until then, they’ll get one or two centre-halves in and it will look OK.”
