Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher says he would love to see Barcelona star Lionel Messi ply his trade in the Premier League.

The Argentina international has handed in a transfer request at Barca and Manchester City are believed to be favorites to land the 33-year-old.

Despite former England defender Carragher admitting he would like to 'analyse' Messi's game in the English top-flight, he does not believe the signing would make Pep Guardiola's Cityzens unbeatable.

"I'd love to see Messi in the Premier League," Carragher told Sky Sports. "I want to watch him, and I want to analyse him and look at him on Monday Night Football.

“The only place he can really go is Manchester City with the history he's got with the manager and with the financial clout the club have got.

"It would make Man City stronger, but it wouldn't make them unbeatable. Barcelona haven't won the Champions League for a few years."
