Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "It was a good workout."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says their 3-0 win against Luton Town FC was a very good work out.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the positives from their 3-0 win against Luton Town.

The Red Devils sealed a 3-0 win against the EFL Championship club, thanks to a penalty from Juan Mata and strikes from substitutes Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

There is no doubt Solskjaer’s boys deserved the victory on the night, but it took a while for them to get into their groove at Kenilworth Road.

While speaking to Sky Sports, the Norwegian said of the positives in their performance: "Well, going through is the big thing. There are some positives, the keeper [Dean Henderson] does his job, we scored some nice goals towards the end, apart from that it was a good workout."

On goalkeeper Dean Henderson's save at 1-0, Solskjaer replied: "That is probably the job our keepers sometimes have to do, you have to make saves when needed, and David [de Gea] has done that for years and Dean did that today."

On resting key players, he said: "We just have to take it day by day and game by game. I didn't want to give [substitutes Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood] more than that because we will have a hard day tomorrow."

On reports linking Jesse Lingard with a move away from Old Trafford, the Man Utd boss added: "I thought he was bright, he was getting closer to a goal and he had the legs and he was bright and busy today."

When quizzed about signing new players, he said: "We are working with what we have now, and then let's see what happens. We will give updates if something happens."

Solskjaer has now won 50 of his 92 games since he took over the help at Manchester United. Only Ernest Mangnall (78 games) and Jose Mourinho (81 games) reached 50 managerial wins in fewer matches for the Old Trafford club.
