CARRAGHER: MAN UNITED NEED YOUNG STRIKER
The Red Devils were beaten at the Liberty stadium by Garry Monk's men, making it the third time in a row Louis van Gaal has lost to the Swans since he became Manchester United boss.
Juan Mata broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half but Andre Ayew levelled for the home side in the 61st minute, and five minutes later in-form Bafetimbi Gomis scored the winner as the Swans sealed three points to move up to fourth spot on the Premier League table.
With United toothless in attack, Jamie Carragher reckons the Reds need to sign a young striker before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
“In terms of Manchester United and bringing a striker in before Deadline Day, they needed a striker when Welbeck went,” the Liverpool legend told Sky Sports.
“Not necessarily straight away, but as soon as Welbeck went, with the age profile of Falcao, Rooney and Van Persie, it was obvious in 12 months’ time they were going to need a 23, 24 year old striker to come in.
“The only other option is Fellaini to come in as a centre forward if Rooney was out. He was playing as a holding midfielder at Everton, so it’s certainly an area they’ll need to look at.”
