Manchester United have signed Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could reach £50.5 million. The 23-year-old described joining the Red Devils as an "incredible feeling."
Ugarte has signed a five-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year. The transfer from the Ligue 1 giants involves an initial payment of £42.1 million, with potential additional payments of £8.4 million.
This signing marks United's fifth addition of the summer, bringing their total spending to over £190 million. Ugarte made 37 appearances for PSG last season, helping them secure the Ligue 1 title. PSG negotiated a 10% sell-on clause as part of the deal, which both clubs agreed to.
Following the move last night, Manuel Ugarte said, “It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude, one that is admired all around the world. The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting. Manchester United is an ambitious club, and I am an ambitious player.
"The passion of the supporters is something very important to me; I know how incredible United fans are, and I cannot wait to experience Old Trafford.
"I’m someone who is determined to succeed; I will sacrifice and give everything for my teammates. Together, we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be.”
