Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli expressed relief and pride after the Gunners' thrilling 3-2 win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon. Mikel Arteta's side sealed the victory with two stoppage-time goals, ensuring they kept pace with Premier League leaders Liverpool.
The Gunners looked in control early on, with Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scoring in the first half to establish a 2-0 lead. However, Leicester fought back through James Justin, whose two second-half goals levelled the match.
The Foxes were on the verge of snatching a point until a Wilfred Ndidi own goal in the 94th minute and a close-range strike from Kai Havertz secured the win for Arsenal.
Martinelli, who scored his first goal since March, spoke to the media, as quoted by BBC Sport: "I'm really happy with the performance, I think we deserved the win. We played really well, we suffered a bit. We didn't deserve to suffer that much but we won the game, and this is the most important thing."
On finally ending his goal drought, Martinelli added: "It's always nice to score goals, especially for those of us who play up front. I'm really happy with the goal and the assist as well."
Despite the nail-biting finish, Martinelli emphasised the need for Arsenal to focus on their own performances as the season progresses: "We have to focus on ourselves and be ready for every single game and just do our job."
Reflecting on the team's resilience, he concluded: "The whole team is ready for the game. We know how tough the league is, and we are prepared. We try to do our best and win every game."
