Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata has heaped praise on his former coach Rafa Benitez, as the Spaniard believes he played his best football - in terms of statistics - under Benitez at Chelsea.
The new Los Blancos boss was the interim manager of the west London side Chelsea, and won the Europa League cup during his short spell at Stamford Bridge.
However, Mata pointed out his stats under Benitez while speaking in an interview with Marca.
"I had him at Chelsea and we won the Europa League. It was a great campaign, my best in terms of statistics,” Mata said.
"Benítez knows how to get the most out of every player and get them performing to their best."
Mata also revealed he likes to see his good friend David de Gea - who has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu - stay happy as he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.
"Lots of people ask me about him. He's a friend and I want him to be happy. He's currently one of the best goalkeepers in the world."
