Matic: We must win regardless of how we play.

Chelsea midfield star Nemanja Matic has said that the Blues need wins regardless of how good or bad they play.

The Premier League champions defeated Dynamo Kiev 2-1 on Wednesday night and will be hoping to continue like that this weekend when they face Stoke City.

‘During moments like this it’s very important to win,’ said the Serbian, reports chelseafc.com. ‘It doesn’t matter how you play, you can play good or bad, but the most important thing is to win and get more confidence for the future.

‘We recovered from their equaliser and had some great opportunities to score more goals at the end but to be honest, if someone told us before the game that we were going to win 2-1 we would have taken it.

‘We are not doing well in the Premier League, we are 15th in the table and we have to win on Saturday. It’s going to be difficult against Stoke, especially away, but last season we won there 2-0 and we can do the same if we play well.'

Matic also said that the players will be in good hands even with Jose Mourinho set to serve a stadium ban against Stoke.

‘Of course it’s easier when the manager is on the bench and at half-time he can say something, but we also have great coaches and they will be prepared for everything,’ said Matic.

‘It’s going to be strange of course, I’ve been here almost two years and we’ve never played without the manager, but this is football and we will be ready.’
