Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta - 'We never gave up'

Mikel Arteta was full of joy after Arsenal triumphed in a thrilling encounter at Luton, clinching a 4-3 victory with Declan Rice's dramatic last-gasp header. The Premier League leaders faced a resilient Luton side that twice fought back, with Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley capitalising on defensive errors from goalkeeper David Raya.

The game began with Arsenal's dominance, highlighted by Gabriel Martinelli's opener. Luton responded with Gabriel Osho's header, but Gabriel Jesus restored Arsenal's lead with a close-range finish. However, a chaotic second half saw Luton take control, as Adebayo and Barkley scored in quick succession.

Kai Havertz's timely equaliser set the stage for a nail-biting finale, and it was Rice who emerged as the hero, heading in Martin Odegaard's cross in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

The win extends Arsenal's lead at the top to five points, and following the game Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told BBC Match of the Day: "Incredible evening. First of all, congratulations to Luton, their players, staff, the atmosphere they created made it a special night to play football and they made it very hard for us.

"They are so good at set pieces and they made us really fight for the game and at the end it was a beautiful win.

"Credit to the opponent, they did really well and cause problems to any team. It's something we have to improve, conceding three goals from home makes life difficult. The team showed spirit, quality, courage to go and go again. We never gave up and tried to the end.

"Big credit to the team, the way they go every three days is remarkable. Luton have been really unlucky with their results, they are well organised and they are a threat."
