Modric was subject of strong interest from Inter Milan after the World Cup.
Luka Modric says he was never close to leaving La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The Croatia international was linked with Serie A side Inter Milan earlier in the summer but a move never materialised.
However, after the 32-year-old won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year 2017/18 award on Thursday night, he insisted that he is happy at the Bernabeu.
When asked if he was close to leaving Real Madrid, he said as bleacherreport.com reported: “No, I am at the best club in the world, where I want to be. I am very happy to be here and nothing else. I want to continue working and doing things well as I have done in the last six years.”
The Los Blancos midfield maestro added: "As I already said, I am really happy to be here. I have been working to achieve as high as possible, so thanks to God, I am here. This is the best year of my career collectively and individually, so I am really enjoying [life]. We have to keep working."
