Schürrle had a good game against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night as he completed 90 mins in a 2-1 victory for the Blues.
After coming off the bench to score a well built counterattack, the Germany international turned from hero to villain when he lost track of James Milner who assisted Frank Lampard for the late equaliser.
But, Jose Mourinho was happy with Schürrle`s performance in the Capital one cup match against Bolton on Tuesday night.
Mourinho said ahead of Saturday’s battle with Aston Villa:
“He played fantastic against Bolton. He really wanted to make an impact in the game and his performance was good.
“It was important for him to play 90 minutes. I don’t forget that he is one of the guys, like the Brazilians, reached the last stage of the World Cup and their holiday was very short.
“To be ready for the first game, they couldn't train as hard. We had all of them, players in the same positions; Ramires, Willian, Oscar and Schürrle.
“I couldn't say all four holidays because I needed them. None of them is in super form at the moment, like Fàbregas, Matic, Ivanovic. Step -by-step.”
