Nesta calls for consistency at A.C. Milan.

AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta says Inzaghi’s men have to put in consistent performance if they are to seal a UEFA Champions League spot.

Milan didn’t make it into the Champions League this season due to mediocre performances in the 2013-14 season in which they finished eighth in the Serie A table.

Milan suffered their first away defeat of the campaign to Genoa and the result puts them in seventh position, five points behind third spot.

And the Italian legend Nesta insists his former side have to play better every other week for a Champions League return.

"I have travelled the world and the name of Milan is always too important to finish eighth," Nesta Gazetta dello Sport.

"They can make the Champions League. Obviously before they played to win it and now they play just to get in it.

"[They can only qualify] if they show more consistency. Inter, Napoli and the others are also having trouble. It is a pity, it seems like a race to see who has the fewest problems.

"Milan, in Italy, can do more, while outside of Europe they are not competitive."
