Klopp says signing a new contract with Liverpool is the signal of a new era
It's not even up to a year since Jurgen Klopp became Liverpool boss and the German said he was surprised the club offered him a new contract.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager didn't hesitate to sign the new six-year deal he was offered this week following his arrival nine months ago at Anfield.
"Signing a new contract is like having a penalty. Now we have to finish it," Klopp said after Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Tranmere on Friday.
"When you talk about six years, it is a really long time in football; it is like 60 years. When they asked me, I was surprised but it felt right and now we are all happy.
"I asked myself 'Is this the right option? Do I want to train another team?' I asked my coaches and my family and they all said 'No'. It's all about getting the right signs."
