Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb shared his excitement after City’s dramatic 1-1 draw with Manchester United, which they ultimately won 7-6 on penalties to secure the Community Shield.
In an interview with ITV, Bobb expressed his pleasure at winning the trophy with a young team, marking City's first Community Shield triumph in several years.
"It's a great feeling, first time we have won it in three or four years and to do it with a young group is fantastic," Bobb said. He praised the team’s resilience, emphasising their ability to stay positive and confident throughout the match.
Reflecting on his key contribution which led to Bernardo Silva's equaliser that cancelled out Alejandro Garnacho's opening goal, Bobb recounted the crucial cross he delivered into the box, which he thought would land on Erling Haaland's head.
"I thought it was going to be Erling [Haaland] who scored, but fortunately, Bernardo Silva got there," he explained, highlighting the collaborative nature of the team’s success.
When asked about Ederson’s role in the penalty shootout, Bobb confidently endorsed the goalkeeper as the team’s best penalty taker, stating, "I haven't seen Ederson miss a penalty, so probably, yes." His confidence in Ederson was well-placed as the goalkeeper played a crucial role in securing the win.
The Community Shield victory adds another trophy to Manchester City's collection and significantly boosts the team’s morale. "It's another trophy, it's a great start. It gives us a lot of confidence and no negatives," Bobb remarked.
Looking ahead to the next season, Bobb expressed hope for more opportunities to showcase his talents. "Hopefully, you will see more of me next season," he said, reflecting his ambition and readiness to contribute further to the Cityzens' success.
