Arsenal are in a difficult situation following a poor start to the 2020-21 Premier League campaign, with Mikel Arteta coming under immense scrutiny.
Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has backed his manager Mikel Arteta to turn their form around, saying a quick managerial change is not the solution to the problem at the Emirates.
The north London club are going through a tough period and the pressure on Arteta got to a new level following their 2-0 defeat to arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Just before the 2020-21 campaign resumed, the Gunners were regraded as potential dark horses due to Arteta’s FA Cup and Community Shield triumph.
However, things are quite different now and it doesn't help when a big side like Arsenal have been able to score just 10 goals so far in the English top-flight. Only sides [West Brom, Burnley, and Sheffield United] in the relegation zone have netted less.
"The first thing is that I think that quick manager changes are not the right thing to do," Mari, who marked his return from an ankle injury with a goal against Rapid Vienna last week, said as the Mirror quoted.
"When you appoint a coach, it is because he has given you the confidence that his idea of football is the one that you think is best for your club.
"If you don’t give it time for that idea to evolve, you aren’t giving it a chance. When you want to change a dynamic or a mentality of a club, it is difficult to do it in a month.
"About Mikel, I think the idea of the club has changed.
"The attitude, the mentality has changed.
"I go with Mikel until the end of the world. He just needs time.
"Soccer is not always rosy. I am happy because, despite the situation, we are united.
"In the dressing room, we give 100 percent in every game, in every training session, to reverse this situation.
"But I think that within all this, football is streaks and I believe a lot in this kind of thing.
"We are in that dynamic right now, no matter how hard you try, football is not giving you everything that you give it. It is a matter of changing it."
