Pep backs Foden to emulate David Silva.

The Man City Academy graduate will be a perfect successor to Silva, according to Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola is convinced Phil Foden will fill the void David Silva will leave behind when he leaves Manchester City at the end of the campaign.

The Man City Academy graduate will be a perfect successor to Silva as he has all the attributes to emulate the “legend” at the heart of their midfield, according to Guardiola.

“That is our wish,” he said ahead of their final Champions League group stage game against Dinamo Zagreb as mancity.com quoted.

“David is a legend. The amount of games and titles [he has]. We believe he [Phil] can do it.”

The Man City manager also revealed there are various areas of Foden’s game that need improvement.

“In some departments he can improve,” he added. “Without the ball. Because he is so young, sometimes he has to think more about decision making, especially without the ball.

“It’s normal for his age. His development is perfect. We are satisfied with what he’s doing when he trains and when he plays.”
