Pochettino remains hopeful that Christian Eriksen will commit his future to Tottenham.
Pochettino and Spurs are keen to hold on to midfield maestro Eriksen, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Mauricio Pochettino heaped praise on Christian Eriksen after the midfielder scored a stunning late winner for Tottenham against Brighton.
The Spurs boss was pleased with the Dane’s display on Tuesday night as he bagged the 88th minute winner to hand the north London club a vital 1-0 win over Chris Hughton’s side.
However, Pochettino revealed after the match that the club is still hoping the sought-after playmaker stays beyond this summer, with Real Madrid interested in taking him to the Bernabeu.
“We are open to talk,” the Argentine said as the Telegraph reported. “The end of the season is so close. We must focus on trying to achieve the things that we want.
“It’s a very special situation. Christian is a special person and we’re all different.
“Timing for him and the club and agreeing something are maybe different to other players.
“Christian and us are so close and it’s not long until the end of the season now and it’s about being focused on the end of the season.
“I hope and I wish Christian can be with us in the future.”
