The former Man Utd star says the Dutchman is the 'best defender in the world'.
Man United hero Ferdinand has opted for his former teammate Vidic over Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
The former Manchester United captain says he would prefer to play alongside his ex-teammate Nemanja Vidic than Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk despite the Dutchman's impeccable impact on Jurgen Klopp's Reds.
Vidic and Ferdinand perfectly complimented each other at the heart of the United defence under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning a number of trophies including five Premier League titles and a Champions League.
With Liverpool at the brink of winning their first league title in 30 years, van Dijk has recently been labelled the best centre-back in the league and was runner-up in last year's Ballon d'Or.
However, when Ferdinand was quizzed during an Instagram Q&A, the former England superstar Ferdinand said he would pick Vidic at his prime over Van Dijk.

Man Utd great heaps praise on Wan-Bissaka.
"Prime van Dijk or prime Vidic? Ooooh, good question," the former Leeds defender said. "I’ve got to go with Vidic because he was my partner, man. He was my partner. He covered my back and I covered his. That was it.
“I love van Dijk, don’t get me wrong. I love him. Best defender in the world now, definitely.
“I’d love to have seen him play in our time, seen what he was about. That would have been interesting. But top player.”
