Antonio Rudiger shutting down the noise and keen for Chelsea FC not to fall out of the title race in December.
Rudiger’s current contract at Stamford Bridge will expire next summer, and he is yet to decide if he will continue plying his trade at Chelsea.
Antonio Rudiger says he is focussed on Chelsea FC’s match against Wolves, amid reports linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
The Germany centre-half Rudiger, whose current deal at the West London club expires in the summer of 2022, has been linked with several European sides, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus, and PSG.
However, Rudiger says he has been able to shut down the noise and focus on his performance for the Blues.
‘It has been easy,’ he told Sky Sports when asked about ignoring speculation regarding his future. ‘There was also a lot of noise going when the last coach was sacked, a lot of negative rumours and stuff like this.
‘I just kept doing what I’m doing. I don’t get easily shaken.’
Thomas Tuchel’s side play Wolverhampton Wanderers today at the Molineux Stadium and are four points behind table-toppers Manchester City, however, Rudiger knows it is essential they stay in the title race and not fall off the ladder after registering eight points from the last 15 available.
‘At the moment, three teams are fighting for it,’ said the 28-year-old said.
‘Obviously, you cannot win it in December but you can lose it in December so we have to be very aware of that because of the way Manchester City and Liverpool are playing at the moment.
‘It’s very stable, they don’t look like they’re dropping any points but in the Premier League, you never know. On our side, there’s pressure now because if the gap is getting five or six points then it can be very difficult.’
Rudiger also gave his thoughts on the covid situation and acknowledged the NHS staff’s work ethic.
‘First of all, I hope everyone knows their responsibilities and should be careful,’ he added. ‘It’s everybody’s own choice and this is the way it should be with getting vaccinated.
‘I can only speak personally for myself. I know my role and I know my responsibilities so it’s just about taking care and I hope people stay safe.
‘To all the NHS workers who are back now on non-stop work, I give them a lot of strength and hope for better times.’
