Sam Allardyce disclosed how José Mourinho sent him a text to congratulate him after his side beat the Premier League defending champions Manchester City on Saturday.
Sam Allardyce side sealed a 2-1 win at Upton Park on Saturday to dint Pellegrini’s chances of retaining the Premier League titles.
The result on Saturday meant Mourinho's side could increase their gap over City to eight points with win at Old Trafford but Chelsea ended up with a draw after Robin van Persie lashed home in the last minute of stoppage-time.
“Jose has just texted me to say ‘Well done big man’,” said Allardyce after Saturday’s victory over the Citizens.
“This shows how important it was for him, never mind for us.
“He goes to Manchester United knowing his team will go and perform at their best and if they win it makes the gap even bigger.”
The West Ham boss, whose side are currently fourth with 16 points in the Premier League table, added: “The result wasn’t for him. It was for us and everyone at West Ham. It will benefit him if they go and get a result at Manchester United.”
