Sebastien Bassong: I remember my Spurs debut like it was yesterday.

Former Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong says he remembers his debut at White Hart Lane 'like it was yesterday'.

The Cameroon international played his first game for Spurs 10 years ago following his move from Newcastle United, and it was against Liverpool he nodded Luka Modric’s free-kick into the top corner of the net to clinch a 2-1 win for the north London club.

Speaking to Tottenham's offical website ahead of the 2019-20 season, Bassong labelled the moment he scored the goal against the Reds as 'beautiful'.

“Ten years ago? Wow,” said Sebastien. “I remember it like it was yesterday. It is such a wonderful memory. It was a day full of emotion and it all happened as you would dream it would happen.

“Luka’s free-kick came in, the header was perfect and the joy I felt at that moment... it was incredible. My debut, to score the winning goal against Liverpool, it’s just amazing.

“All my family were over from France. You know what? I knew something was going to happen, I just didn’t know what. It was beautiful.”
