Senegal international, Pape Sarr, recently shared his thoughts on the exhilarating moment when he found the back of the net, propelling Spurs to a remarkable 2-0 triumph over Manchester United.
Exhibiting impeccable timing, the Spurs midfielder seized the opportunity presented by winger Deki Kulusevski's well-placed cross. With precision, he expertly dispatched his shot into the upper reaches of the net, securing the opening goal, a mere four minutes into the second half of the Premier League showdown at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The victory was further solidified as Lisandro Martinez redirected Ben Davies' attempt into the goal, courtesy of Ivan Perisic's precise cross.
Having returned to Tottenham's training ground earlier this week, the 20-year-old, Pape, who joined the team from Metz in August 2021 told the club's official site: “Well, it was an unbelievable moment. Scoring a goal in a match like that one is really something special. I can hardly start to describe to you how it felt to score at that instant, but there it was, and you have to put that behind you now and concentrate on the next match ahead.
“No question that Manchester United is a big club, and to score goals against big clubs like that is really something exceptionally great for me. So, I’m happywith how I did,and happy with our team performance in the match.”
When asked how it felt when he scored in his 16th appearance across various competitions for the north London side, he replied: “Yes, I really felt them (the fans), as they were right behind us all through the match and they were driving us on, and that’s why when I scored the goal, I set off right towards the fans at the byline.
“As for the box-to-box runs, that’s one of my attributes, so I was making those box-to-box runs throughout, and there was a large space that opened up for me when I scored, I felt the ball was going to arrive straight into my run and it came at just the right moment for me to make the goal.”
