The Atlético de Madrid coach has no regrets about the tactics employed in the Santiago Bernabéu and feels his team did well against Real Madrid.
Regarding the season as a whole, he limited himself to saying: "I'd rather not say until the season is over. We're at a crucial stage right now, when you can achieve your goals if things go right for you."
In reference to Alderweireld's possible return: "He's a top player and a great bloke who did really well while he was here. We are keeping an eye on him; he's doing a very good job. We'll wait until the pre-season warm-up and then decide amongst ourselves what's best for everybody."
As for the disappointment of the Atlético fans, he remarked: "I didn't walk around asking people in the street what they thought about the game. They are disappointed because we lost. If I had to do it again I would, so my conscience is clear.
I think we were unable to impose ourselves in the match and the opposition won fair and square."
Simeone expressed his surprise at Rummenigge's reaction after the match: "Rummenigge's comments came as a big surprise. He's a great player who would have fitted right in with our way of playing. His characteristics were very similar to those of our players."
Atlético de Madrid's main aim is to finish in third place: "The club is striving towards finishing third in La Liga. We've done very well in Europe and the negative result hurts but it sends out a clear message to our rivals; no one can take us for granted, we will take them to the wire."
