Tottenham’s Postecoglou Faces Setbacks with Solanke Injury and Bentancur Concussion
Tottenham's manager, Ange Postecoglou, faces a setback in his plans for the club due to an injury sustained by new signing Dominic Solanke.
The £65 million striker from Bournemouth injured his ankle during his debut against Leicester and will miss the upcoming Premier League home game against Everton.
Solanke's injury might sideline him until after the next international break. The Lilywhites Postecoglou emphasised the importance of Solanke in the long-term strategy and joked about needing consolation himself.
Additionally, Richarlison is still recovering from a pre-season injury and isn't fit for a full match. Rodrigo Bentancur is also unavailable after suffering a head injury and will follow concussion protocols.
'We respect concussion protocols and [with] any head injury we'll always be a little more conservative,' Postecoglou said of the Uruguayan in his press conference on Friday.
'The good news is he's bounced back really well, done all the concussion tests, but we'll take our time with Rodrigo before putting him back out there.'
On a positive note, Yves Bissouma, who missed the opening game due to a suspension related to a video showing him inhaling laughing gas, could return to the squad.
Postecoglou discussed their ongoing effort to rebuild their relationship and emphasised the importance of learning from mistakes, indicating that Bissouma might be selected to play against Everton.
'Biss is available but we've got some options there and the whole idea of bulking up the squad in pre-season was for these kinds of scenarios,' Postecoglou explained. 'He's available for selection but the bridge building continues'
