Antonio Conte gives injury update on Spurs stars.

Tottenham Hotspurs boss has issued an update on Richarlison's fitness ahead of their Boxing Day clash against Brentford in the Premier League.

The Brazil international suffered an injury to his hamstring in Brazil's quarter-final loss against Croatia in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

However, Conte confirmed on Tuesday that the Spurs attacker is due for an MRI scan this week.

Speaking in his pre-Brentford press conference this afternoon, Antonio said as Spurs' official website reported: "I followed all my players at the World Cup with my fingers crossed, because you know very well you can lose important players, and it happened with Richarlison, who had a problem, Bentancur, and Ben Davies."

When he was asked how long he expected Richarlison will be on the sidelines, the Italian replied: "I spoke with the medical department, and they told me we need three to four weeks. His injury was a serious injury."

Speaking to SPURSPLAY, Conte added: "About Richy, you know very well that now we have to wait because his injury was a serious injury. We have to wait."

Conte also spoke about the availability of three of their medal-winners at the Qatar World Cup.

Defender Cristian Romero and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris featured in the final of the competition, with Argentina beating France to the trophy, while Ivan Perisic played in the third-place tie with Croatia, who sealed a win over Morocco.

“I like a lot that Ivan Perisic came back today and he had a training session with us and he showed great desire,” Conte said.

“Then about Hugo, he is coming with us to stay on the bench. Cuti (Romero) will be available I hope for the next game against Aston Villa.

“For sure we must be proud of our players, for the players that played at the World Cup, because Cuti, Hugo, and Ivan, they won gold, silver, and bronze medals [respectively]. This was really important and they make us, the club, really proud about it.”
