Spurs Throw Away Two-Goal Lead as PSG Lift Super Cup

Late PSG Comeback Stuns Spurs in UEFA Super Cup Thriller

Tottenham Hotspur looked on course for a statement win, but Paris Saint-Germain had other ideas, staging a dramatic late comeback before sealing the UEFA Super Cup on penalties.

Under the floodlights at the Bluenergy Stadium, Spurs struck first through Micky van de Ven, whose composed finish in the 39th minute capped a lively first-half performance.

Cristian Romero doubled the advantage early in the second half, rising to meet Pedro Porro’s delivery and sending Tottenham Hotspur fans into full voice. For much of the evening, Thomas Frank’s men looked disciplined, organised, and in control.

Then, the game turned. PSG, sensing time slipping away, found a lifeline in the 85th minute when Lee Kang-In steered Vitinha’s clever pass beyond the Spurs goalkeeper.

What followed was relentless pressure from the French and European champions, culminating in a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser, with Gonçalo Ramos taking advantage to head in Ousmane Dembélé’s cross in the 94th minute after Romero misjudged the situation.

With no extra time in the competition format, penalties decided the outcome. Both sides faltered early in the shootout, but it was PSG who held their nerve when it mattered most.

Nuno Mendes dispatched the decisive kick, sparking Parisian celebrations and leaving Spurs to reflect on how a 2-0 lead had evaporated in the final moments.

For Tottenham Hotspur, the night was a painful reminder of football’s fine margins. For PSG, it was another European trophy to add to their collection – one earned through persistence, pressure, and a flair for late drama.
