Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has said that scoring in the Champions League is a dream come true.
Sterling, who sealed a move from Anfield to the Etihad in the summer, scored twice as the Citizens defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 4-2 to top Group D on Tuesday night.
'It’s obviously a good thing and something I've been dreaming of all my life to score in the Champions League, and scoring on my birthday makes it even more special,' Sterling told BT Sport after the match, Daily Mail reports.
'We took the lead and obviously went down again with them scoring two in the first half and I knew if we had a couple more chances we’d take them and that’s what we did and credit to the boys.
'We just had to slow the game down a bit more (in the second half), we were a bit too fast and trying to break away at every opportunity and I knew we would score if we slowed it down a bit more and tried to keep it a bit better and get the ball into scoring areas, and we did that in the second half.
'It’s brilliant, it’s a brilliant feeling for the boys that we worked hard and I think we deserved it at the end of the day.'
