STEVEN GERRARD says he hopes he can return to Liverpool in some capacity in a couple of years when his American adventure comes to an end.
The Liverpool captain will end his 27-year association with the club this summer to move to MLS side LA Galaxy.
The 34-year-old marked his final appearance against with a goal as the Reds drew 1-1 with the Premier League champions at Stamford Bridge.
And Gerrard hopes whoever is in charge of Liverpool when he returns to England will be able to offer him a role at the club.
"I'd love to come back in some capacity," Gerrard said.
"That's out of my control. Liverpool's in my heart.
"I'll support from afar for a couple of years.
"When I return in a couple of years, whoever's in charge of the club, it's down to them."
