Liverpool can hold their heads up high after a very good performance against Chelsea over two legs, despite failing to secure a place in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley, says Reds Legend Robbie Fowler.
Brendan Rodgers’ men missed out on a place in the League Cup final after Branislav Ivanovic found the back of the net in the fourth minute of extra time at Stamford Bridge. The second-leg clash at west London ended 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.
The Reds had a better performance between both sides but couldn’t see off Mourinho’s men, and former Liverpool striker Fowler said there were lots of positives to take from the Capital One Cup clash.
“We gave a good account of ourselves against a Chelsea team who I think will probably win the Premier League this year,” Fowler told Liverpool’s official website.
“They struggled to break us down. We more than matched them in every department other than the goals and I think [goals] will come for Liverpool.
“I think the potential is there. It’s plain for all to see. We’ve lost the game and we’ve lost the tie, but I think we can hold our heads up high.”
