‘There was a professionalism about our performance.' - Chelsea boss Lampard

Chelsea deserved the win against Rennes, and it was professional.

Chelsea 3-0 Rennes.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was overly pleased with the professional performance his side showed in their win against Rennes in the Champions League.

The west London club beat the Ligue side 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, thanks to Timo Werner’s double from the penalty spot and a second half strike from striker Tammy Abraham.

In all competitions, Chelsea have now kept five consecutive clean sheets and it’s the first time they’ve done so since October 2010.

Speaking to BT Sport after the clash, Lampard said: "I think we deserved that. The red card and penalty to 2-0 makes it easier. We kept the ball moving early in the second half, there were professional elements to our performance today. They were tough opposition and we won pretty well.

"It was not an easy decision (on penalty taker) because Jorginho has been pretty faultless. He had missed two recently and Timo came in and scored. I had a word with Jorghino and his answer was perfect, he said he didn't mind who came in to take them he just wanted to score. Timo came in and scored so I am happy.

"I am pleased I got some players to rest and pleased for some to get minutes. It ticked a lot of boxes for us."
