Werner's penalty was the difference in RB Leipzig's Champions League tie against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner says Liverpool are the best side in the world.
Werner has been constantly linked with Premier League giants Liverpool following brilliant displays for the Bundesliga club, and according to widespread reports the Germany international could be leading the attack for Jurgen Klopp's Reds next term.
The 23-year-old's penalty helped Leipzig seal a 1-0 away win against Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash on Wednesday night.
Following the match against Jose Mourinho's Lilywhites in north London, Werner heaped praise on Liverpool and said it makes him 'very proud' to be linked with the Merseyside club.
"I know Liverpool is the best team in the moment in the world," Werner said to Viasport as the Metro reported. "When you’re linked with that team it makes me very proud.
"But in case of that, it’s a pleasure but I know at Liverpool there are a lot of good players and I know I have to improve myself to learn much more things to get on this level to play there."
Timo Werner reportedly has a £50m release clause in his contract which runs out in three years time (2023).
