Tanganga has drawn praise from Spurs boss Mourinho.
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho says he "trusts" Japhet Tanganga and he believes the 20-year-old has the attributes to become a top player.
Tanganga was handed his Tottenham debut in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool, and he was part of the Lilywhites' starting XI that beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in Tuesday's FA Cup third-round replay.
"I trust him. I know the way he can read the game and learn," Mourinho told BBC Sport when quizzed about the teenager's display.
"He absorbs all the information. He is not that kind of modern kid who is worried with pathways, the pathways it to work hard and take the opportunity which he did. Now people know how good he is."
And, Tanganga said he is greatful to the gaffer: "We had chances to kill the game but obviously you're not always going to score but we had to defend well. It was a sloppy goal we shouldn't have conceded it. We made it hard for ourselves.
"I'm just grateful that the gaffer is trusting me, the club for giving me the opportunity and my team-mates for trusting me. I'm ready for whenever the manager picks up, I'm loving it, the opportunity to play in this stadium."
