Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen warns Harry Kane not to burn out.

Vertonghen says Harry Kane shouldn't play for England Under-21s this summer.

Tottenham defender Jan Vertoghen has warned his team-mate Harry Kane not to burnout after reports say the 21-year-old striker could be going to the summer’s European Under-21 championship.

Kane increased his goal tally in the Premier League to 16 in 24 matches this season, when he fired home two goals for Pochettino's side to seal a 2-1 win over the R's at Loftus Road on Saturday.

The Spurs striker who is keen on representing his country at the competition in Czech Republic, could be called up to the England senior team soon and Belgium defender Vertoghen doesn’t think Kane should be available for Gareth Southgate’s squad in the summer.

“Of course England want him but I think he needs his rest for next season,” Vertonghen is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“I know a player always wants to play but sometimes you have to be careful. You have to think about what’s going to come.”
