Spurs Set to Sign Dominic Solanke in £65M Deal After Bournemouth Release Clause Triggered
Dominic Solanke is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur from Bournemouth in a high-profile £65 million transfer. The 26-year-old striker completed his medical with Spurs after the club triggered his substantial release clause, which has been a barrier for other potential suitors.
Solanke, who is under contract with Bournemouth until 2029, enjoyed a standout season last year, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League and playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s impressive 12th-place finish.
Tottenham, keen to strengthen their attacking options following Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich, identified Solanke as a prime target. The deal also benefits Liverpool, Solanke's former club, which stands to earn approximately £9 million due to a 20% sell-on clause from his earlier transfer to Bournemouth.
Despite initial hesitations over the high release clause, Spurs remained determined to secure Solanke, who had previously played for Liverpool and Chelsea.
His performance last season, with 21 goals in all competitions, outshined current Spurs forwards Son Heung-min and Richarlison, making him an attractive option for new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Solanke, who narrowly missed out on a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad, is now set to take a significant step forward in his career with Tottenham, filling the void left by Kane and becoming Postecoglou's first natural No. 9 signing.
