The win against Palace moves the Merseyside club closer to securing their first league title in 30 years.

England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has labelled Liverpool’s thrashing of Crystal Palace as one of their “best performances” of the 2019-20 season.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds beat the Eagles 4-0 at Anfield on Wednesday evening, thanks to goals from Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho, and Sadio Mane.

Champions elect Liverpool could have their first Premier League trophy confirmed on Thursday night if Manchester City don't secure a win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, the Reds right-back said: "Really good performance. There was a lot more rhythm and fluency than Sunday. We were disappointed, we never played the way we wanted to against Everton. Today we've come out and started fast and didn't really put a foot wrong in the whole game. It will go down as one of our best performances of the season. It was a special performance and I hope the fans enjoyed it."

On his fantastic free-kick that broke the deadlock against the South London club, he said: "I practice free-kicks a lot. I was happy with the way I struck it and it was one of them were you knew a soon as you hit it that it's got a chance and you look at where the keeper is and whether they have a chance."

On playing behind closed doors at Anfield, he said: "It was very different. We've had to create our own atmosphere in the team, with the tempo that we play at and the communication and the rhythm that we play at. Going into the game we wanted to make it horrible for the opponent and if they are going to get anything they'd have to work really hard."

On closing on Liverpool’s first league title in 30 years, the 21-year-old added: "We know we're in that position but we won't get overly excited. A lot of us will watch it tomorrow but not get too excited, we know Man City are a very good team. We've still got to prepare for the game next week regardless. We've still got seven games left I think and we're going to try and get all 21 points from those games."
